Phoenix Suns acquire Hornets Center, Nick Richards
The Charlotte Hornets are trading 7-foot center Nick Richards and one second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for Josh Okogie and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN Insider Shams Charania.
The Suns are laser-focused on their championship aspirations, led by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. While their offensive firepower is undeniable, questions about their interior defense and bench depth have loomed large this season. By acquiring Richards, Phoenix gains a low-maintenance, high-impact big man who thrives in his role without needing offensive touches.
For the Hornets, moving on from Richards is a step toward giving more minutes to younger big men like Mark Williams, aligns with their development-first approach, as his defensive versatility and perimeter shooting could mesh well with their evolving roster.
This could be very interesting as sources indicate the Suns has been trying to trade center Jusuf Nurkić. Will Phoenix be making another move that includes Jusuf, we’ll have to wait and see.
