San Antonio feels Foxy
The San Antonio Spurs did something that is out of the norm for San Antonio. They did something that other teams normally do. They traded for an Allstar point Guard in De'Aaron Fox. As far as I can remember, The Spurs rarely makes trades during the season. Is San Antonio Spurs starting to feel Foxy? Is it the Wemby Effect? Is it the Spurs front office finally catching up with the times, and changing their stripes?
I want to say it is a mixture of all things, but mostly the Wemby effect. I honestly believe the Spurs have realized that past mistakes by NBA franchises with their young Superstars (Cleveland- LeBron James) (Dallas- Luka Doncic) (Toronto- Chris Bosh). That sometimes you can't take the slower approach, and you have to strike when the value is at its best.
How can you judge the Market? Just look at the day before the De'Aaron Fox trade. Luka Doncic was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis and one first round pick. That completely changed how the trade would of been. If that trade didn't happen, San Antonio probably doesn't have a Keldon Johnson or a Devin Vassell right now. But because that trade did happen, The Spurs felt extra Foxy, and got Fox for Tre Jones, Zach Collins, Sidy Cissoko.
Yes, It was the biggest in-season trade in San Antonio's history. The Spurs now have a three headed monster to build around. Victor Wembanyama, De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle. With the season going into the final stretch. Let's see if the Spurs can make a serious run at the Play-In. If Not, the Future in San Antonio is Foxy. San Antonio Spurs fans should be excited about the work Brian Wright and the front office has done.
