The Oklahoma City Thunder are a great team, but there’s always room for improvement. They’re currently 23-5, the best record in the Western Conference. The Thunder have a great mix of young talent and solid veterans. Despite all this, they’re still weighing options on the trade market.
It was reported by insider Jake Fischer that the Thunder have expressed interest in Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson. The sixth-year veteran is averaging 19.1 points while shooting 48.8% from the field, both career highs, and 42.3% from three-point range. The Nets have begun a fire sale after trading guard Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors. The franchise has a ton of assets available on the market, Johnson included.
He’d be a great fit on the Thunder with his efficient shooting and ability to move without the ball. Johnson is shooting 42.2% on catch-and-shoot threes. He’s a player that can easily be plugged into any system. Now, what will it cost the Thunder to acquire him?
There are various versions of what the trade package would look like. One would be sending Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe to the Nets. Another scenario would be one of these players, along with Dillon Jones and Nikola Topic. Finally, either Wiggins or Joe, along with Ousmane Dieng’s contract. Regardless of how the deal looks, the Nets will be looking for high-quality draft capital in return, which the Thunder have plenty to trade.
